When I am keeping my number, do I have to cancel my contract with my current provider?

Generally speaking, when we are transferring or 'porting'  your number, there is no need to cancel with your previous phone company. The porting process typically will take care of this and it is important that you do not cancel or the porting process will  not go through.
However, once your number has been ported and your Home Phone is activated, we recommend that you call your previous provider  to make sure that they have cancelled your account and that you will not receive any more monthly bills from them.
