Generally speaking, when we are transferring or "porting" your number, your previous provider should cancel your service as you won't have a number with them anymore. It is important that you do not cancel or the porting process will not be completed. However, once your number has been ported and your home phone is activated, we recommend that you call your previous provider to make sure that they have cancelled your account and that you will not receive any more monthly bills from them.
